Every day, thousands of babies are born too soon, too small and often very sick. I am raising funds as a part of March for Babies because I want to do something about this, and I need your help. Joey was born on May 15, 2014, at 25 weeks and 2 days gestation. He weighed only 1 pound and 13 ounces. Little Joey was a fighter through and through. He battled to be here with his family for 21 days before being called to heaven. I will be honest and say prior to my own experience, I was familiar with the work of the March of Dimes, but never in my wildest thoughts expected to need their services. I was blissfully unaware of the world of premature birth and the rollercoaster ride that is the NNICU. It is funny the way that 21 days seems like so little and so much all at the same time. They were simultaneously the best and the worst days and they changed my life forever. Though Joey joined and left us far too soon, being his mother is the best thing that ever happened to me. I made a promise to him that I would never let his life be forgotten and I will do everything that I can to honor his memory and help others in whatever way I can.
