Abby & Hannah were born strong and healthy baby girls, but not every birth story is so fortunate. Every day, thousands of babies are born too soon, too small and often very sick. Early in my pregnancy with Abby, we learned that my universal donor blood (O-neg) has a risk to fertility if the Rh factor is not managed with a shot of RhoGAM - a shot that's only been in existance since 1968. Research that is funded through groups such as these! As a part of my motherhood journey, I learned a lot about breastfeeding, a feeding method so old and yet still so misunderstood to this day. We were blessed more recently to have Hannah join our family, and her journey was not without concern - we had numerous extra sonograms and checks because she was growing smaller and slower than Abby had - a concern that Hannah wasn't thriving in utero. Once again, we learned about risk factors to a healthy birth and baby that are only supported through more and more research that has to be funded and questioned and communicated and trained so that families like ours can be at their best.
