As a proud member of the Burke-Fairfax Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., I am walking for the babies we almost lost — and the mothers who didn't make it home.
Black women in America are 2 to 3 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women regardless of income, education, or access to care. Our babies are nearly twice as likely to be born premature. These are not statistics. These are our sisters, our daughters, our friends, and our neighbors.
The March of Dimes is one of the few organizations actively funding research, policy advocacy, and community programs that address the racial disparities driving these outcomes. From their Supportive Pregnancy Care program to their advocacy for implicit bias training in maternal healthcare, they are fighting for Black mothers in the rooms where decisions are made.
That's why the Burke-Fairfax Chapter is marching — because we believe that a healthy start should never depend on the color of your skin.
Your donation directly funds the research and resources that can change these numbers and save lives in our community. Every dollar is a step toward equity.
Please visit my fundraising page and give what you can. Walk with us. Stand with us. Let's bring every baby home.
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
