March of Dimes is near and dear to my family's heart. Each year, it is our privilege to walk and raise money for March of Dimes on behalf of our miracle girl, Brooklyn, and the countless other babies we love who were affected by prematurity, birth defects and infant mortality.
As you may know, our daughter, Brooklyn, was born at 23.5 weeks into what was supposed to be a 40 week pregnancy. She graced this world, feet first in a complicated breeched delivery, weighing just one pound...sixteen ounces...just barely larger than a standard bottle of soda.
We spent almost six months in the neonatal ICU, endured two surgeries and spent three months with the ventilator breathing for her. She was a direct beneficiary of the work of March of Dimes, as she received surfactant to help strengthen her tiny lungs.
Despite many health challenges, many that we still navigate, we are truly blessed. Brooklyn is living today because of the miraculous healing power of God and the medical research He allowed March of Dimes to develop.
I ask that you would join in with me and my family as we join hands with March of Dimes to save the lives of even more miracle babies like Brooklyn.
With nearly 4 million babies born each year, we have a lot of work to do to help them all. The funds I raise enable March of Dimes to support research, lead programs and provide education and advocacy that truly makes a difference to families in our community and across the country. Premature birth is the #1 killer of babies in the United States. Those who survive can face a lifetime of serious health problems. With your support, we can give help to the hundreds of thousands of babies born prematurely now and bring hope for the millions more yet to come.
By raising money, I am helping the March of Dimes fund important research to find out why premature birth happens and what can be done to prevent it.
