Davey and I have three kids - and all three came early. Tripp at 32 weeks, Izzy at just 27 weeks, and Wally at 33 weeks - each with their own wild, terrifying, beautiful, NICU chapter.
Going home at night without your baby is one of the hardest things a parent can do. You know they're in the best possible hands, but it still feels like you're letting them down. That tiny baby just wants to be warm and home with you, and instead you're driving away from the hospital... again. That feeling never fully leaves you.
When the doctors told us there was no real explanation for why all three came early, we didn't feel angry - we felt like we had to do something. Because other families are going through this right now, and nobody deserves it.
That's why we walk. That's why we fundraise. There is no organization fighting harder for moms and babies than March of Dimes, and this April we'll be supporting the Chicago March for Babies walk again - for Tripp, for Izzy, for Wally, and for every family sitting in a NICU somewhere tonight wondering when they get to bring their baby home.If you've ever supported us, thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
Thank you for your support!
