I want to share something deeply personal with you. My daughter was born weighing just 1 pound 14 ounces after I suddenly became gravely ill with a life-threatening condition called HELLP syndrome. HELLP is a rare complication of pregnancy that affects the blood and liver and can be fatal for both mother and baby if not caught in time. It came on without warning, turning what should have been a joyful time into the scariest days of our lives.
My tiny girl had to fight for every breath in those early days. She was fragile, hooked up to machines, and surrounded by uncertainty. But by the grace of God, excellent care, and her own incredible strength, she made it. She survived. Sadly, not all stories end like ours. Too many families experience heartbreak instead of hope. Too many babies never get the chance they deserve. That’s why I’ve dedicated my volunteer work to the March of Dimes, an organization that fights for the health of all moms and babies. They fund life-saving research, support NICUs, and advocate for policies that protect our most vulnerable.
These babies are innocent. They haven’t even had a chance to begin, yet they’re forced into battles most adults couldn’t imagine. Your donation can help give them that chance — a chance at life, health, and hope. Please consider donating to the March of Dimes today. Your support means the world to families like mine, and to the countless others still waiting for their miracle.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
