💜 Team P&E Princesses Story
Our team, P&E Princesses, is inspired by two incredibly strong little girls — Penelope and Emilia — and the journeys that brought them into this world.
Penelope’s Story 👶✨
Penelope was born on March 27, 2023 at 31 weeks, after a complicated pregnancy due to severe preeclampsia. I (her mom) was hospitalized starting on St. Patrick’s Day until delivery, when Penelope arrived via C-section much earlier than expected (her due date was Memorial Day 2023). Her dad, Brett, stood by us every step of the way.
Like so many premature babies, Penelope spent her first weeks in the NICU, where she showed strength and resilience far beyond her tiny size. She was able to come home just in time — the Saturday before Mother’s Day — a moment our family will never forget.
Her journey is a reminder of how critical access to specialized care, research, and support is for moms and babies.
Emilia’s Story 👶💕
Our sweet Emilia was born on November 10th and immediately faced an unexpected and complex diagnosis: Cloacal Exstrophy, a rare condition affecting multiple organ systems.
She was transferred to a specialized children’s hospital, where she received life-saving care from a team of experts. Since then, she has been able to come home, and continues her journey with ongoing medical care and support. Her parents, Tacey and Tim, have navigated long hospital stays, travel, and time away from home — all while caring for their 3-year-old son, Felix, who already loves his baby sister so much.
Emilia’s journey is just beginning, and it will include multiple surgeries, ongoing care, and incredible strength.
