In 2019, our son Cameron could not wait for his April 3rd due date to make his grand entrance into this world. He was born a full 4 weeks ahead of schedule, and, very quickly, changed my wife and I's lives for the better. The one thing we didn't anticipate; however, was just how much extra attention he was going to need being born ahead of schedule. After an initial 30 minutes with Cameron, the next time we saw him was down in the NICU, hooked up to a CPAP machine to help with his breathing, a feeding tube to make sure he got nutrition, and electrodes monitoring his heart and respiratory rate. It's something no parent can prepare for. Luckily for Ashley and I, we had excellent nurses and staff taking care of Cameron, and, after making continuous improvements with feeding, skin color, breathing, and dirty diapers, he got to go home after an 8 day stay.
UPDATE: Cameron turned 7 this year! He has really developed a passion for sports, actively watching football and basketball games on TV, learning about the players, and always wants to be outside playing, even during the cold of winter. He also enjoys playing board games, occasionally drawing, and going to birthday parties. Most of all, he loves being a big brother. We're so fortunate to have him, our 2nd son Parker (5), and our youngest Brooks (3) in our lives and are thankful each day for all 3 of them.
I participate to help ALL moms and families experience the joy of a healthy baby. With nearly 4 million babies born each year, we have a lot of work to do to help them all. The funds I raise enable March of Dimes to support research, lead programs and provide education and advocacy that truly makes a difference to families in our community and across the country. If you believe, like I do, that every baby deserves the best possible start, please march with me or make a donation to support this community effort. Together we can fight for the health of all moms and babies.
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
Thank you for your support!
