Tanya supports March for Babies

As Senior Director for March of Dimes Greater Los Angeles, I am proud to lead March for Babies Los Angeles. I show up to this work not only as a nonprofit leader, but as a woman, a mother, a daughter, a wife, and a friend. I believe deeply that healthy communities begin with healthy families, and maternal and infant health should matter to every one of us.

Why this matters:

1 in 10 babies in the United States is born preterm.
Women of color are significantly more likely to experience serious pregnancy complications and pregnancy-related death, regardless of income or education.
Babies born to women of color face higher rates of preterm birth and infant mortality.

In a region known for innovation and excellence in health care, outcomes for mothers and babies should not vary so widely. Yet the maternal and infant health crisis continues to grow, affecting millions of families across our country and here in Los Angeles.
