Every year, half a million babies in the U.S. are born prematurely. Premature birth is the leading cause of newborn death and many life long disabilities. The funds we raise in March for Babies support research that saves babies' lives.
I march to remember my preemie, Ethan. On November 14th, 2007 Ethan was born at 23 weeks weighing just over 12 ounces. The doctors could provide no other reason for his preterm birth than “sometimes these things just happen.” I march so that one day no mother will experience a loss like I did. I march for every baby born too soon; to give them the chance at a healthy life that Ethan never had. After 12 years my passion for March for Babies has grown more and more.
Although Ethan was only with us for a short time his life has made such a huge impact in our community. He has inspired our team to raise over $35,000 to date. I will be forever grateful to Ethan for inspiring me to help others. He truly changed my life for the better, and I am so proud to be his mommy!
My goal is to continue to raise money for March for Babies until the cause and cure for premature birth is found. Thank you for visiting my page and for supporting Team Ethan.
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
