Most people never think about the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)…until it suddenly becomes their whole world. For our family, that happened twice!
We never imagined what it would be like to have babies born so early and not be able to bring them home for the first months of their life. Between our two children, they spent a combined 271 days (nearly nine months) in the NICU. Those days changed us forever. They showed us just how overwhelming, frightening, and isolating the NICU journey can be, and how deeply families rely on support during their most vulnerable moments.
Because of our story, we’re honored to serve as the 2026 March of Dimes Ambassador Family for the Tampa March for Babies walk. In this role, we advocate for families by helping raise awareness around preterm birth, maternal health, and the challenges too many families face before, during, and after pregnancy.
March of Dimes is dedicated to protecting the health of moms and babies by preventing preterm birth and infant loss, improving maternal health outcomes, and closing the health equity gap. One of the ways they do this is through their March for Babies walk fundraiser. This walk brings people together who truly believe that every baby deserves a healthy start and every family deserves equal support.
