STORIES FROM FAMILIES
UNITE
March for Babies UNITES in the fight for all to have equal access to care. The Siciaks are honoring their son, Charlie, who never made it home from the NICU. "To have the platform that March of Dimes has given us to share what happened to him and to make sure people remember him has been incredibly impactful for us," Kate says.
CONNECT
March for Babies CONNECTS with people who hope for full-term, healthy babies. Cynthia Smith, who was born preterm, has been walking since 2011 to honor her mom's legacy of volunteering for March of Dimes. "I represent the preemie babies—my mom had me when she was a teenage mom, and March of Dimes helped her," she says. "I often say I'm the biggest baby representing the babies."
HONOR
March for Babies HONORS those who've experienced loss. The Hamiltons who lost one of their children, Elsie, who was born just over 24 weeks. She was alive for 15 days. "As we honor Elsie through March of Dimes, we get to lift up her story," Heather says. "We can continue honoring her by raising money and keeping her legacy alive in a meaningful way."
CARE
March for Babies CARES for all families throughout their pregnancy. The Grants walk for their daughter, Sara, who was born as 23 weeks, weighing 1 pound. She spent four months in the NICU. "I really believe she wouldn't be here today if it wasn’t for treatments that exist because of March of Dimes," Chelsie says. "So, I think it's important to spread that word."
