2017 Austin Ambassador The Delino Family

In 2011, our son River was born 28 weeks and 4 days, due to an abrupted placenta. He was 3 lbs. 3 ounces and 16 inches long. He had two small brain bleeds while he was in the NICU and spent 9 weeks there. After he was released from the NICU in March, we participated in our first March of Dimes that May. In 2013, Rachel became pregnant with Loretta, and at 32 weeks Rachel's water broke suddenly and blessed us with Loretta's early arrival as well, in March of 2014. Loretta was 4 lbs. 4 ounces and was 15. inches long. She spent 7 weeks in the NICU growing, and developing the necessary skills to eat properly. She joined us on her first March for Babies walk May of 2014, about a month after coming home from the NICU. The March of Dimes was an invaluable resource to both of us during the most stressful points in our lives. Providing us precious information from the research and programs that they support, and also comfort in reading the stories of other parents that have been through similar situations and the successes and challenges that they faces throughout those experiences. It has been our pleasure to be a part March of Dimes going on 7 years now, and we hope that one day, through the research performed and funded by the March of Dimes, that others may be spared the difficult and emotional experience.
