Our March for Babies celebration is still on, but it looks a little different! We are rapidly preparing for a new, virtualized event that will be fun and engaging for everyone. This change in format aligns with the newly released CDC guidance for large events, to help ensure the safety and health of our participants. More details on our new format to come soon!

About March for Babies
We're getting ready to walk in March for Babies! It promises to be a fun day out with people who share our passion for improving the health of babies. There'll be family teams, company teams and people walking with friends - it's a great feeling knowing we're all helping real families. Join our event and walk with us to raise money for babies right here in our community!

March for Babies brings people together through events across the country and online while raising critical funds to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a yearly walk, March for Babies is a community. Families, friends, and co-workers can connect while raising critical funds for research, education, advocacy, and programs and services so moms and babies get the best possible start. Because together, each step forward leads to a healthy future for us all. March for Babies. Every step counts!

2016 Asheville Area Ambassador Paisley Owen

We are the Owen family. My husband Justin and I found out we were expecting in March 2013 and we were overjoyed! We found out at our 16 week ultrasound that we were having a baby girl! At that same scan we found out our sweet girl had gastroschisis. Gastroschisis is a birth defect that effects 1 out and every 2,229 babies. It is a defect that doesn’t allow the abdominal wall to close fully in utero, which then allows for the intestines and sometimes other organs to grow on the outside of the body. On November 29th I gave birth to the most perfect little miracle. Paisley Harper Owen was born at 6:02pm weighing 5lbs 4oz with both her small and large intestines on the outside of her body. She was rushed immediately into surgery to place her intestines back into her abdomen. She then spent 31 days in the NICU recovering; including her first Christmas… Santa still came to visit! She underwent her second surgery at 7 months old which repaired the muscle of her abdomen that was not able to be fully closed with the initial surgery. We are so blessed and thankful to have our baby girl with us today! Paisley is now 2 years old and she is the happiest little girls! She loves everyone and everything! Her doggie is her best friend; she loves to play, talk, explore, but most of all, she loves to smile! Without March of Dimes, Paisley may not be here today. They have funded an abundance of research to find the causes and the treatments of birth defects, like Paisley’s in an effort to give every baby a fighting chance. We are truly honored to be the Ambassador Family for the March of Dimes March for Babies and we hope that Paisley’s story will help save the lives of other babies and touch family’s lives, just as March of Dimes has so deeply touched ours! — Morgan Owen
