Important Update

Our March for Babies celebration is still on, but it looks a little different! We are rapidly preparing for a new, virtualized event that will be fun and engaging for everyone. This change in format aligns with the newly released CDC guidance for large events, to help ensure the safety and health of our participants. More details on our new format to come soon!

About March for Babies
We're getting ready to walk in March for Babies! It promises to be a fun day out with people who share our passion for improving the health of babies. There'll be family teams, company teams and people walking with friends - it's a great feeling knowing we're all helping real families. Join our event and walk with us to raise money for babies right here in our community!

March for Babies brings people together through events across the country and online while raising critical funds to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a yearly walk, March for Babies is a community. Families, friends, and co-workers can connect while raising critical funds for research, education, advocacy, and programs and services so moms and babies get the best possible start. Because together, each step forward leads to a healthy future for us all. March for Babies. Every step counts!

By participating in this March of Dimes event, you assume all risks related to attendance and acknowledge and consent to the event terms, including but not limited to March of Dimes' liability waiver and health and safety guidelines, as set forth in detail here.

Cousins Noah and Kael

Following in his cousin’s footsteps was not the plan when Kael arrived early. And, although their stay in the NICU was short compared to others, it is not how the Carlsons visualized their first weeks as a family of three. Surrounded by families with premature newborns for over two weeks opened their eyes to the issue of premature birth and the emotional toll it plays. “Our experience changed our lives forever,” says Jenna. “We are thankful for everything that the March of Dimes continues to accomplish so every baby has a healthy start! Flash back 11 years when Kael’s older cousin was born at just 24 weeks and weighed 1 lb. 10 oz. “In Noah’s first few days, treatments pioneered by the March of Dimes were completely responsible for his survival,” said Noah’s mother Rachael. “He was given surfactant therapy so his lungs would inflate and nitric oxide to help his blood absorb oxygen.” Noah’s NICU stay was a roller coaster with infections, pneumonia, and a blood transfusion. But slowly he grew stronger and after 85 days, the Kreis’ finally brought Noah home. Kael will be turning 3-years-old this May. He loves singing, dancing to the Wiggles, swimming, reading books, being outside, and his “Foxy & Bear.” Playing with his cousins, including fellow preemie Noah, is one of Kael’s favorite activities and one that Noah happily obliges. Noah is now a happy and healthy teenager who enjoys playing baseball, football and fishing. The Kreis’ have participated in March for Babies since 2004 and when Kael was born prematurely in 2014, Team Preemie Power formed. Since the Kreis/Carlson family is spread across three states, they decided that the Eau Claire (Chippewa Falls) March for Babies was a central location for all. So for one weekend in May this clan comes together to celebrate Noah, and Kael, while supporting the March of Dimes mission to End Premature Birth. They are looking forward to seeing everyone in Chippewa Falls on May 6 and are honored to be sharing their story as the 2017 Ambassador Family for the area.
