Important Update

Our March for Babies celebration is still on, but it looks a little different! We are rapidly preparing for a new, virtualized event that will be fun and engaging for everyone. This change in format aligns with the newly released CDC guidance for large events, to help ensure the safety and health of our participants. More details on our new format to come soon!

ABOUT MARCH FOR BABIES

The March for Babies is presented by Longstreet Clinic on April 27 at Longstreet Clinic at 725 Jesse Jewell Parkway Gainesville.  And it’s for everyone in Gainesville and Northeast Georgia!

This spring, you'll be joining thousands of people in cities across the country for March for Babies, and helping to raise critical funds to support research, advocacy and programs for the health of all moms and babies. At March for Babies we come together to empower, honor and advocate for moms, families and babies everywhere. Thank you for joining our community— we can’t do it without you!   We can’t wait to see you at March for Babies.

So come join the fun and bring your family and friends for a great celebration of all the fundraising to lead the fight for the good health of all moms and babies!   Meet our 2019 Ambassador triplets-Max, Maggie and Miller!   Remember it’s a free event and breakfast is provided by Publix, our National Partner. There will be fun activities for the whole family!  We will have a Super Hero Sprint for the children, super heroes, face painting and other family fun activities.  Jerious Norwood, former Atlanta Falcons player, will be there to share his inspiration and warm us with up.  Come meet Jerious!

And don’t forget the Barrel Race at the Rabun Arena on April 14.  Our Kickball Tournament is scheduled for 9/14 and children and adults are all welcome to play!  This year will be our first Annual Bassin’ for Babies a fishing Tournament on Lake Lanier!  More to come on all these events in the Newsletter.

Come out and support any or all of these fun events!   Please call me or email me with anything I can do to help you.  I’m Debbie Childress, the March of Dimes local Development Manager.  You can reach me at 770-548-7988 or [email protected].  Thank you so much!

Max Maggie Miller Burle

Maggie, Max, and Miller are triplets born 16 weeks early at 24.1 weeks. Maggie weighed 1 pound 6 ounces and both boys weighed 1 pound 9 ounces. All three babies had different complications but all spent time on the oscillator, D.A.R.T. Protocol, and rode the “micropremie roller-coaster.” Maggie’s biggest setback was her size, bradycardias, and fighting E-coli blood infections. She spent 142 days in NICU. Max had the hardest ride and had numerous setbacks during his time in the NICU. Max suffered a Pneumothorax early on and had 3 chest tubes put in as he recovered. Other setbacks included: E-Coli blood infection, staph infection, Nitric Oxide treatment, ROP stage 3 with eye injections, a grade III bi-lateral brain bleed, and spent 158 days in the NICU. Miller had a PDA, battled 2 blood infections, ROP stage 3 with eye injections, and he had the hardest time learning to feed. He spent 158 days in the NICU. We are now 19 months old and tackling all challenges that come our way. We spend our days in therapy and doctors’ appointments. All three babies have come so far!
