March for Babies brings people together through events across the country and online while raising critical funds to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a yearly walk, March for Babies is a community. Families, friends, and co-workers can connect while raising critical funds for research, education, advocacy, and programs and services so moms and babies get the best possible start. Because together, each step forward leads to a healthy future for us all. March for Babies. Every step counts!

By participating in this March of Dimes event, you assume all risks related to attendance and acknowledge and consent to the event terms, including but not limited to March of Dimes' liability waiver and health and safety guidelines, as set forth in detail here.

Meet our Ambassador Family

The Plant Family

In 2003, Colleen and her husband were excited to learn they were expecting baby girl. However, very early on in the pregnancy, the baby was diagnosed with a life-threatening birth defect called Gastroschisis. Because of this, Colleen had to be monitored closely throughout her pregnancy, with weekly stress tests and frequent ultrasounds. On the day of her baby shower, Colleen delivered their 4-pound daughter, Ashley, at 36 weeks. Ashley needed surgery right away, as her intestines and stomach were outside her body. During her NICU stay, she was on breathing and feeding tubes, had several surgeries, and dealt with constant poking and prodding in the first few days of her life. However, she wasted no time showing her family and medical team how fierce she was. While they expected her to be in the NICU for 3 – 4 months, after 17 days, she was able to come home. Today, Ashley is a healthy, strong young lady and truly lives life to the fullest, always ready for the next adventure. She is currently at Northeastern University Bouvé College of Health Sciences in pursuit of a Neonatal Medicine career. She has found that sharing her story gives some peace of mind and hope to families, especially moms, that are navigating the difficult path of prematurity and birth defects. Please join the Plant Family as they celebrate their 20th year of participation in the North Suburban March for Babies.
