Our March for Babies celebration is still on, but it looks a little different! We are rapidly preparing for a new, virtualized event that will be fun and engaging for everyone. This change in format aligns with the newly released CDC guidance for large events, to help ensure the safety and health of our participants. More details on our new format to come soon!

March for Babies connects you with friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of moms and babies in your community and across the country. Because together with March of Dimes, each step forward leads to a healthy future for us all.

And it takes just 3 easy steps:

1. Sign up - find an existing team, create your own team, or sign up as an individual walker

2. Explore ways to get involved wherever you are, virtually or in person

3. Ask family and friends to join - or compete - with you to raise funds for March of Dimes

About the local event
Join us on Saturday, April 26th to celebrate and walk to help families in the Midlands, throughout South Carolina, and across the country. Registration Opens: 8:00am Opening Ceremony Begins: 8:30am Walk Starts: 9am Lets make EVERY STEP COUNT in 2025!

Meet Our 2025 Midlands Ambassador Family

 

 

Jace Giovanni Goins

The night of July 9th of 2023 was a night that Shakeita Price will never forget. Around 10:30 that evening her placenta abrupted detaching from her uterus. At the time she didn't know what was happening and feared for her life, and the life of her unborn son, as she was rushed to Palmetto Health Baptist by her aunt. Shakeita's due date was not until September 18th. She was only a little over 28 weeks into her pregnancy. Jace Giovanni Goins was born that night weighing only 2lbs 8ozs with underdeveloped lungs, a heart murmur, and a brain bleed. It was 10 days before his parents Shakeita and Jamar were able to hold their son for the first time. Jace would spend the next 6 months in the NICU in critical condition and getting strong enough to come home. Today Jace is an adorable and very active one year old. Shakeita and Jamar attribute their son’s survival to the artificial surfactant (developed by March of Dimes research) that he was given to help develop his lungs. Their journey certainly wasn’t easy, but their passion to help other families not to have to experience what they did is their why. The Goins Family and their family team Race for Jace are sharing their story with the Midlands to encourage others to join March for Babies to fundraise and walk with them on April 26th at Riverfront Park. Join us to celebrate 55 Years of March for Babies!
