Our March for Babies celebration is still on, but it looks a little different! We are rapidly preparing for a new, virtualized event that will be fun and engaging for everyone. This change in format aligns with the newly released CDC guidance for large events, to help ensure the safety and health of our participants. More details on our new format to come soon!

We're getting ready to walk in March for Babies! It promises to be a fun day out with people who share our passion for improving the health of babies. There'll be family teams, company teams and people walking with friends - it's a great feeling knowing we're all helping real families. Justus Torres

Raquel was so excited to meet her baby boy around Thanksgiving in 2006. But, on September 3rd, Justus was born at 28 weeks, weighing just over 3 pounds. The following day Justus’ weight dropped to less than 2 pounds. He spent over two months in the newborn intensive care unit in the hospital and was treated for two brain bleeds, four blood transfusions, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus or MRSA infection, and sepsis. He had feeding challenges and breathing issues. "Thanks to the March of Dimes for funding vital research that has led to discoveries such as surfactant therapy which helped save Justus and other premature babies across the nation," said Raquel. "Justus is now an active 10-year old and has so much energy. He has good grades in school, a brown belt in Taekwondo and enjoys gymnastics. He is affectionate and loves helping others. Justus dreams to be a K-9 police officer. With his determination, he will make this happen. Every so often he makes my heart want to pop out my chest but to see all he has accomplished is a blessing. Justus loves life!" Raquel and Justus are serving as the 2017 March for Babies Lake/Sumter Ambassadors to raise awareness. They thank you for fundraising for March for Babies so that the March of Dimes can help give a fighting chance for every baby.
