Important Update

Our March for Babies celebration is still on, but it looks a little different! We are rapidly preparing for a new, virtualized event that will be fun and engaging for everyone. This change in format aligns with the newly released CDC guidance for large events, to help ensure the safety and health of our participants. More details on our new format to come soon!

About March for Babies
We're getting ready to walk in March for Babies! It promises to be a fun day out with people who share our passion for improving the health of babies. There'll be family teams, company teams and people walking with friends - it's a great feeling knowing we're all helping real families. Join our event and walk with us to raise money for babies right here in our community!

March for Babies brings people together through events across the country and online while raising critical funds to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a yearly walk, March for Babies is a community. Families, friends, and co-workers can connect while raising critical funds for research, education, advocacy, and programs and services so moms and babies get the best possible start. Because together, each step forward leads to a healthy future for us all. March for Babies. Every step counts!

By participating in this March of Dimes event, you assume all risks related to attendance and acknowledge and consent to the event terms, including but not limited to March of Dimes' liability waiver and health and safety guidelines, as set forth in detail here.

2017 Ambassadors Kamari and Kordell Evans

I considered myself lucky during my pregnancy. I did not have much morning sickness and felt healthy and energized. I went into my doctors for a routine 26 week ultrasound to see how the babies were growing, feeling excited to see my babies! Little did I know, I would be seeing them much sooner than I had thought! After several checks, the tech advised me that the babies were measuring on the smaller side. My Doctor ordered me to go to Maine Medical Center immediately. I stayed for the remainder of my pregnancy. After 4 weeks of bed rest in the hospital, careful 24-hour fetal monitoring and daily ultrasounds, we welcomed our twins into the world on 1/15/16. I was woken up at 1am to do an emergency C-section because Kamari’s heart rate was regularly dipping and staying low for too long. Baby A (Kamari) had Absent end diastolic flow (AEDF) which ended up in Reverse end diastolic flow (REDF). This meant that Kamari wasn’t getting good cord blow flow, which was restricting his ability to grow. Kamari spent the next 9 weeks in the NICU and Kordell spent 11 weeks. Each baby was on nasal cannula for a few days before breathing strictly room air. Kamari was treated for a few unknown infections and was given blood transfusions. Both, Kamari and Kordell were watched closely for gastrointestinal problems, reflux, anemia and jaundice. Each baby had PICC lines in for quick and easy access for long term medications. After almost 9 weeks in the NICU, 62 days, I got to bring Kamari home...leaving Kordell behind. That was the second hardest day of my life, the first being when I left both of them when I was discharged from the hospital. Kamari and I traveled back and forth every day to the hospital for the next 2 weeks. On March 30th, after 74 days in the NICU, I got to bring my second baby home. My family was complete! -Jennifer Evans, Team Pair of Miracles
