About March for Babies

Every step counts.

March for Babies is a campaign that connects millions of Americans united to improve the health of moms and babies in your community and across the country.

Together, we can give families the health information and resources they need throughout their pregnancies, and fund groundbreaking research to transform lives. We’re also advocating for policies to keep moms and babies healthy and strong.

Because together with March of Dimes, each step forward leads to a healthy future for us all.

By participating in this March of Dimes event, you assume all risks related to attendance and acknowledge and consent to the event terms, including but not limited to March of Dimes' liability waiver and health and safety guidelines, as set forth in detail here.

The TeBeest Family

After struggling with infertility we were ecstatic to learn we were pregnant with our first child, Abigail. My prenatal checks were great and on track and then the stresses of my work schedule and pregnancy started to wear on me and I was placed on a modified bed rest. I was constantly exhausted and swollen, but with my first pregnancy I thought it was normal. I went for a check-up and was told my blood pressure was extremely high and that they were sending me over to be admitted in the hospital. After being admitted to the hospital my doctor diagnosed me with pre-eclampsia. My doctor was able to delay delivery in order to give me much needed medication that would help Abigail's lungs breathe when she was delivered. At the time my husband Jason and I had no idea what having a preemie really meant, we just wanted her to be healthy. After waiting as long as we could Abigail was delivered via emergency C-section at 31 weeks, nine weeks early. When she was born she weighed 2 pounds and 13 ounces and was 15 1/4 Inches long. She was placed on a ventilator and many other lifesaving machines to regulate body temperature, monitor her vitals and give her medications. We are thankful every day for the medical interventions she was able to have to help her grow and get stronger. We know March of Dimes was instrumental in bringing about Neonatal Intensive Care Units many years ago and are grateful for such specialized care. We are also grateful for March of Dimes research that led to surfactant therapy Abigail received shortly after she was born to help her breathe. Abigail was in the NICU at BSA for 9 weeks while I stayed at the Ronald McDonald House and my husband Jason traveled back and forth from Amarillo to home to work. We had many victories and set-backs during our NICU stay and the day we came home we were terrified and so happy! Abigail is now a beautiful healthy 10 year old girl with two younger brothers, Turner (9) and Tanner (3). She is on her school honor roll, participates in UIL academics, Girl's in Action, Little MISS Hansford, shows a pig in the county and a major stock show, softball, basketball, takes gymnastics and guitar, is a member of the Texas Panhandle Youth Choir, loves to read and loves helping raise money for March for Babies.
