Riley was born at 25 weeks, weighing 2 lbs 2 oz after efforts to stop preterm labor were unsuccessful. Riley spent 78 days in the NICU before coming home. While there, we were willing to participate in any study to help prevent this from happening to other families. Our second son, Connor, was born at 36 weeks after following recommendations made by the doctor that stemmed from research supported by the March of Dimes. We have walked every year since 2008, the year after Riley was born.
Today, Riley is an energetic and healthy 10 year old thanks to the important work that the March of Dimes does leading the fight for the health of all moms and babies. We are so grateful to be able to share our story this year and represent just one of the many families in the Lima area who have been affected by this much too prevalent mission. With your help and support, we CAN make a difference and create a future full of healthy moms, strong babies and a world in which every baby has the opportunity to thrive, live the future they choose, and grow up to change the world.
