2025 Ambassador Family

The Noble family

At just 24 weeks and 4 days pregnant, Kyla thought she was experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions at work, but by the time Kyla started bleeding at home, Kyla knew something was wrong. They rushed to the hospital, where Kyla learned she was already 3 cm dilated, and her baby, Raegan, was in a breech position. The local hospital wasn’t equipped to handle such a premature birth, so Kyla was airlifted to the University of Cincinnati Medical Hospital. By the time they arrived, Kyla was fully dilated, and Raegan’s hand was already emerging. In a whirlwind of panic and urgency, Kyla was rushed into surgery. At 12:11 a.m., Raegan Rae was born, weighing just 1 pound 7 ounces. She had to be resuscitated twice. She was born without a heartbeat, but they saved her. Raegan spent 145 days in the NICU, battling NEC twice, a PDA, brain bleeds, chronic lung disease, and a fungal infection that led to endocarditis. The journey was terrifying, but thanks to life-saving care, she survived. Our experience opened our eyes to the realities of premature birth and the vital role of organizations like March of Dimes. Their work helps provide critical treatments that give babies like Raegan a fighting chance. We share our story so others know they are not alone and to raise awareness of how much support is needed for families facing prematurity.
