The Schmitz Family

The Schmitz family stands as a beacon of hope and resilience in their community, dedicated to a cause that resonates deeply with their hearts: fundraising for the March of Dimes. Their journey began with the arrival of their son, Brady John, who entered the world prematurely at 26+5 weeks on January 15th, 2017. Weighing a mere 1 lb. 1 oz. and measuring 11 inches long, Brady's arrival marked both a moment of profound joy and the beginning of an arduous battle for survival. Despite his tiny frame, Brady exuded boundless energy, feistiness, and sweetness that captivated the hearts of all who knew him. Although Becca & Jeff couldn't hold their precious son due to his fragile condition, they enveloped him in love through countless "hand hugs" and tender care, administering diaper changes and monitoring his temperature with unwavering devotion. Brady relied on a ventilator for breathing and a multitude of IVs and lines for vital nutrition and medications, emblematic of his fierce fight for life. Tragically, Brady's journey was cut short when he succumbed to an infection on January 29th, leaving an indelible void in the hearts of his family. Yet, amidst their grief, the Schmitz family found solace in their unwavering determination to honor Brady's memory and safeguard the well-being of other families facing similar challenges. Driven by their own harrowing experience with severe preeclampsia and HELLP Syndrome, life-threatening complications that necessitated Brady's premature delivery, the Schmitz family advocates tirelessly for March of Dimes' mission to fund vital research. Their commitment stems from a profound understanding of the urgent need to prevent birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. Brady's legacy lives on through the Becca & Jeff's unwavering dedication to raising awareness and funds for the March of Dimes. With each step they take in the annual March for Babies event, they honor his memory and champion the hope of a brighter, healthier future for all families. Through their advocacy and fundraising efforts, they ensure that Brady's spirit continues to inspire positive change, guiding countless others towards a path of healing and resilience.
