Our March for Babies celebration is still on, but it looks a little different! We are rapidly preparing for a new, virtualized event that will be fun and engaging for everyone. This change in format aligns with the newly released CDC guidance for large events, to help ensure the safety and health of our participants. More details on our new format to come soon!

About March for Babies

March for Babies is MORE THAN A WALK

When it comes to giving families the best possible start, we all have the power to help. March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every step of the way.

  • Together, we can ensure families have the health information and resources they need.
  • Together, we can fund groundbreaking research that transforms lives.
  • Together, we can advocate for policies that protect moms and babies.
  • Together, we can make a real impact, knowing that every donation, action, and step adds up.

March for Babies connects you with friends, families, and coworkers united to improve the health of moms and babies in your community and across the country. Because together with March of Dimes, each step forward leads to a healthy future for us all.

March for Babies. Every step counts

The Boyd Family

Nealy and Alex Boyd never expected the NICU to be part of their story. After a heartbreaking miscarriage, they were shocked to learn they were expecting twin girls. Seven weeks before their due date, after a normal day celebrating the 4th of July with friends, Nealy began having contractions. Shortly after being admitted to Prisma Greenville Memorial for monitoring, doctors suddenly couldn’t locate either twins’ heartbeats. Nealy was rushed into an emergency C-section. Myers and Annie were born at 33 weeks, weighing just over 3 lbs. each, and taken to the NICU. Their journey wasn’t easy—Nealy faced postpartum preeclampsia, and both girls experienced complications, including brain bleeds, breathing difficulties, and feeding struggles. The heartbreak of Myers being discharged 11 days before Annie meant the Boyds had to split their time between home and the hospital. Now, at 7 months old, the twins still face challenges, but the Boyd family is grateful to be together and hopes that sharing their story can bring hope to other families who find themselves navigating a NICU journey. The Boyd Family is grateful for the layers of support the March of Dimes provided during their darkest moments. Not only did medical research funded by the March of Dimes allow their girls to survive (and thrive), but the March of Dimes’ NICU Family Support Program also provided personalized support and encouragement throughout their stay. They describe the NICU Family Support Program Coordinator, Rachel, as their main lifeline, providing trauma-informed care, comfort, and celebrations that made the NICU experience easier to bear. “The precious banners, cloth hearts, and books bring so much join while in such a hard season,” Nealy shares. “They were always a listing ear and willing to help us navigate such a hard time in our lives.”
