Important Update

Our March for Babies celebration is still on, but it looks a little different! We are rapidly preparing for a new, virtualized event that will be fun and engaging for everyone. This change in format aligns with the newly released CDC guidance for large events, to help ensure the safety and health of our participants. More details on our new format to come soon!

About March for Babies

We are so excited to see you at March for Babies, Charleston SC on Saturday! As a reminder, March for Babies will take place rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, and if it is unsafe to hold Charleston March for Babies, we will alert you with updates right here on the event page and on our Facebook page. We are hopeful all will be well, but please check this event page on the morning of your event. We will post notices if walk details change.

Please join us at the meadow between the Wando and Stono Shelters at James Island County Park.

Park Entry: When you arrive at the park gate, please let the gate attendant know you are attending the March of Dimes March for Babies walk, and your entry fee will be waived.

Saturday Schedule

Plan to arrive between 9:00 AM and 9:30 AM, when registration opens and the energy starts to build. Take time to explore our four mission areas, Care, Connect, Unite, and Honor, and grab a coffee with fellow walkers as we gather as a community.

At 10:15 AM, our youngest participants are invited to take part in the Superhero Sprint, a fun, family favorite moment where kids age 12 and under don capes and run a short course to the cheers of their families.

Our Opening Ceremony begins at 10:20 AM at the Main Stage with our Chair, Ambassador Family, sponsors, and a special Mission Connection Moment honoring every family touched by this work.

At 10:30 AM, we step off together for the walk. Walkers will return to the field around 11:00 AM, with time afterward to revisit the mission areas, enjoy the community, and celebrate everything we accomplished together.

The event officially wraps at 12:00 PM. See you on May 30th!

Every step counts.

March for Babies is a campaign that connects millions of Americans united to improve the health of moms and babies in your community and across the country.

Together, we can give families the health information and resources they need throughout their pregnancies, and fund groundbreaking research to transform lives. We're also advocating for policies to keep moms and babies healthy and strong.

Because together with March of Dimes, each step forward leads to a healthy future for us all.

March for Babies brings people together through events across the country and online while raising critical funds to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a yearly walk, March for Babies is a community. Families, friends, and co-workers can connect while raising critical funds for research, education, advocacy, and programs and services so moms and babies get the best possible start. Because together, each step forward leads to a healthy future for us all. March for Babies. Every step counts!

Whilding Family

March for Babies of Charleston helps families here and across the country get their best possible start, including families like the Whildings. When Alex and Kasey Whilding's daughter, Olivia, was born in 2019, medical staff quickly identified a problem. She had asymmetric crying facies, a congenital anomaly that signals an elevated risk for major heart defects. Then came jaundice and retracted breathing. Instead of going home, Olivia spent five days in the local neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). "We, of course, were terrified, as any parents would be," Kasey recalls, "but the care and compassion she received by the nurses and staff in the NICU was incredible. We recognized it then, and it has left its mark with us ever since." Today, Olivia is a healthy, lively 5-year-old with no known heart defects. Kasey now volunteers for March for Babies, saying, "This is my small way of trying to give back and say thank you to the people and organization that ensured my daughter would come home to us healthy and happy. March of Dimes does so much for babies, mothers, and families, and has certainly touched our lives in more ways than one."
