Important Update

Our March for Babies celebration is still on, but it looks a little different! We are rapidly preparing for a new, virtualized event that will be fun and engaging for everyone. This change in format aligns with the newly released CDC guidance for large events, to help ensure the safety and health of our participants. More details on our new format to come soon!

About March for Babies

March for Babies brings people together through events across the country and online while raising critical funds to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time.

The US is the most dangerous high-income nation for childbirth. When you participate, you're helping to end preventable maternal and infant health risks, end preterm birth, and close the health equity gap by funding March of Dimes' vital resources such as:

  • Providing programs like NICU Family Support® for families with a baby in the NICU, and promoting healthy pregnancies with Supportive Pregnancy Care®.
  • Delivering prenatal care where it's needed most with March of Dimes Mom & Baby Mobile Health Centers®.
  • Funding research and innovation to address the most pressing maternal and infant health challenges.
  • Educating healthcare professional and families with information such as our Low Dose, Big Benefits™ campaign to inform about how low dose aspirin can support cardiovascular health.
  • Advocating for legislation that protects all moms, pregnant people, and babies.

Kick off March for Babies on Wednesday March 25th at the TotSpot Social (6451 Clayton Road Suite 100-101, St. Louis, MO 63117) at 5:30PM!

We will have light refreshments and talk about March for Babies while the kiddos play at TotSpot Social’s playroom.

March for Babies brings people together through events across the country and online while raising critical funds to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a yearly walk, March for Babies is a community. Families, friends, and co-workers can connect while raising critical funds for research, education, advocacy, and programs and services so moms and babies get the best possible start. Because together, each step forward leads to a healthy future for us all. March for Babies. Every step counts!

The Dashtaki Family

After experiencing two pregnancy losses and related complications, Nadeane and Darius Dashtaki were thrilled to be expecting their second child so quickly after the birth of their first, a son, Winfield. However, at just 18 weeks pregnant, Nadeane suffered from severe bleeding that would later be diagnosed as placenta accreta. This severe pregnancy complication immediately made her pregnancy high risk. A registered-nurse-turned-stay-at-home mom of a 9-month-old son, Nadeane couldn’t lift her little boy and had to deal with severe bleeding from her pregnancy daily. At just 29 weeks, Nadeane gave birth via C-section – on her own birthday! – to daughter Esme. The ensuing emergency surgery for Nadeane meant that she would have to visit newborn Esme in the NICU while she recovered as a patient herself. “I spent a week in the hospital going back and forth between my room in one building and Esme’s in another,” she recalls. Continued complications for Nadeane meant another three-day hospital stay. She and Esme, who had spent 58 days in the NICU, were both discharged on the same day. In addition to the family’s deep appreciation of the NICU staff and volunteers that cared for Esme, who is now an active preschooler, Nadeane feels especially passionate about supporting March of Dimes research and services, not only for the impact they have had on her own family’s journey, but also for the sake of other families. “I’m forever indebted to this incredible organization,” she says.
