I was born on January 22, 2016! I weighed only 1360 grams (which is just slightly under 3 pounds) and was 15.5 inches long at birth. (I was even smaller than my older sister who was also born prematurely.) As soon as I was delivered early, I was immediately whisked away to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Good Samaritan Hospital because of my prematurity. I spent 19 long days and nights there (one day less than the amount of time Rylie spent there!). I am so very thankful for the NICU's wonderful doctors and nurses (I had many of the same doctors and nurses that Rylie had!), as well as the March of Dimes, for helping me survive and for providing comfort to my Mommy and Daddy during a time of need. I am fortunate that I'm home with my family and I'm growing. I am a kindergartner and have the sweetest personality! As you know, I'm strong like my older sister!
Therefore, we are once again joining the front lines with many other families to help fight prematurity. We are participating in March for Babies because we believe in the March of Dimes mission to save babies. By walking with us and/or raising money, not only do you support health care and medical research, you will also help to support community services and parent education. Money raised in March for Babies provides information and comfort to families of babies in neonatal intensive care units, just like it did for my Mommy and Daddy. Please lend a helping hand as Mommy, Daddy, Rylie, Paxton, Auggie and I support this cause that is so close to our hearts.
Love, Avery Emersyn
