Every baby deserves the chance to take their first breath healthy and strong. Unfortunately, too many families never get that moment the way they imagined.
Premature birth and complications during pregnancy remain some of the leading causes of infant death in the United States. Behind every statistic is a family experiencing fear, uncertainty, and sometimes heartbreak.
That is why the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Tau Iota Lambda Chapter proudly support March of Dimes and the March for Babies walk.
Service is a foundational principle of Alpha Phi Alpha. Our fraternity was built on the belief that strong communities require strong families, and supporting mothers and babies is one of the most powerful ways we can serve.
This year marks our fourth year participating in March for Babies, and together our team has raised more than $22,000 to support the March of Dimes mission. Our commitment to this cause actually began even earlier when we were still organizing as the South Nashville Alphas, before Tau Iota Lambda officially became a chapter.
From the very beginning, we believed this was a cause worth standing behind.
March of Dimes funds groundbreaking research, supports families with babies in the NICU, and advocates for policies that improve maternal and infant health. Their work helps prevent premature birth and gives vulnerable babies a better chance to survive and thrive.
As a physician who cares for mothers and babies, I see firsthand how important this mission is. The work being done through March of Dimes truly saves lives.
But meaningful change only happens when communities step forward.
