We Walk for Domenico James & Mia Isabella DeVito
On March 7, 2017, my husband Steve and I welcomed our first baby, Domenico James, into the world. Dom arrived 12½ weeks early, but for twelve beautiful days, he fought bravely and filled our hearts with joy. Then, on March 21, he developed a severe bowel infection called Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC). Despite every effort and his incredible fight, we lost our sweet boy. We are forever grateful for those precious two weeks with him.
In June 2018, we were blessed with our rainbow baby, Emma Sofia. Life felt hopeful again, and we were thrilled to be expecting another child in December 2019. But at just 25 weeks, my water broke. After five days of bed rest, our daughter Mia Isabella was delivered via emergency C-section on September 17 due to a suspected cord incident. Tragically, Mia was without oxygen too long to recover, and after two short days, we said goodbye to our baby girl.
Through heartbreak and hope, we’ve been blessed again—welcoming Vincenzo Joseph in June 2021 and Luciana Marie in August 2025, both born healthy after highly monitored pregnancies under the care of Dr. Sara Nichols. We are deeply thankful for the research supported by March of Dimes and the expertise that helped bring our rainbows safely into the world.
We love and honor our angels, Dom and Mia, every single day. They will always be part of our family. We love our angels so very much and they will always be with us. Thank you to everyone for all the thoughts, prayers and support. We'd especially like to thank the NICUs at Lankenau and CHOP for doing everything they could to save our babies. .
As a mom and dad experiencing two premature deliveries with entirely different circumstances we are committed to raising funds to continue researching premature delivery and help the survival rate for premature babies. Right now, babies need all the help they can get. Premature birth affects about 380,000 babies here in the United States. We’re walking in for Babies to get the message out about this terrible problem and you can help. Please make a secure donation to help us reach our goal. Together we can help the March of Dimes fight prematurity so more babies can get the strongest start possible.
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
Thank you for your support!
