Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation began collaboratively implementing Project Alpha in 1980. This collaborative project is designed to provide education, motivation, and skill-building on issues of responsibility, relationships, teen pregnancy, and sexually transmitted diseases for young males ages 12-15 years. The program attempts to reach younger adolescents before they have established risk-taking behavior that may be difficult to reverse. Designed to provide young men with current and accurate information about teen pregnancy prevention, Project Alpha consists of a series of workshops and informational sessions conducted by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity brothers.
The three goals of Project Alpha programs are:
Having been in partnership for more than forty years, Alpha Phi Alpha reaches 25,000 young men each year and has raised approximately $5 million for March of Dines through the March for Babies events held in cities around the U.S. just in the last 10 years. (apa1906.net)
The Kappa Zeta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. has been a supporter of March of Dimes for over 15 years through fundraising and advocacy. As we continue our fight for healthy moms and healthy babies, we are grateful for your continued support.
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
Thank you for your support!
