Every day, thousands of babies are born too soon, too small and often very sick. I'm walking in March for Babies because I want to do something about this. And I need your help. My son, Hunter, was born at 24 weeks gestation. He was 1 lb 10 oz and 12 inches long. He was not expected to make it through the night. At 10 days old, his stomach perforated and he became septic. After surgery, doctors had to find a way to start fee ding him again, since he lost half of his stomach... After 9 more surgeries in 8 weeks.. And 5 months in the NICU. Hunter finally got to come home! He is now a happy 12 year old who is in 6th Grade! Hunter has auditory neuropathy and wears hearing aids (that he thinks is super cool, because they connect through bluetooth to his iPad!), to help him hear better! He also wears glasses to help him see, because he suffered from ROP (Retinopathy of Prematurity) not long after birth, which included laser eye surgery to try and correct it.He was recently diagnosed with innatentive ADHD, unsure of the connection to prematurity - but otherwise is a healthy little boy! We know that things could have been much worse, and are so thankful to have here here and healthy with us today.
Hunter loves to dance, sing, ride his quad, go camping, and loves his toy trucks and cars... And of course raising money for the march of dimes!!
