NICU TEAM STAT

Our 2026 March of Dimes team, NICU TEAM STAT will be focusing on the strength it takes to be a NICU baby, a NICU parent, or a member of our NICU staff. We want to celebrate all the lives we have helped along the way while remembering those who fought to the bitter end.

By joining NICU TEAM STAT and supporting March of Dimes you are helping us in the fight for our babies’ lives. March of Dimes is the pioneer for researching solutions for our tiniest and most vulnerable population.

This year is for the NICU babies. They are the toughest. They have to go through so much before they get to go home. Learn to breathe. Learn to stay warm. Learn to feed. It comes easily to some NICU babies, harder for others, and some never make it there.

This year is for the families. It is not just the babies who are battling. Every day the parents of these little ones come in to see their babies and watch them endure, see them struggle for every breath, and sometimes fight for each and every day they get to have with their child. Some parents are just praying that after 3 weeks maybe today is the day they will get to hold their baby for the first time.

This year is for us. NICU staff battle too. We fight and advocate for our babies every day. Every one of us plays an integral role in their lives. We care for not only the baby but the entire family - emotionally, physically and spiritually. From the MD/NNP/PA-C that intubates the smallest of our babies with calmness and ease. To the PCD who goes to court multiple times to [literally] battle for the safety and wellbeing of one of our babies.  To the amazing PCA’s who go into the NAS baby’s room time after time and patiently sits, holds, and rocks them to help ease their pain. To our Lead Support Technician who orchestrates all of our needs in NICU. Our Registered Dieticians that grow our babies so well! Our Occupational Therapist and Speech Therapist who helps teach our babies to eat (among other things.) To our amazing Volunteers (Book Buddies) who cuddle and read to the babies. To our wonderful Environmental crew who keep our units clean and tidy!  To our wonderful Clinical Managers who among everything else they do keep our unit staffed SO well. To the Case Managers who keep our babies safe.  To the RT who not only keeps our babies breathing but offers them pacifiers when they are crying, and who lets them hold their finger as they simultaneously re-tape an ET tube. And to the Nurse, who holds that baby as he/she passes away making his/her last breath on Earth a peaceful one.  

This year is for all of us. We are truly the BEST of the best. We fight every day for our babies and families.
