When our son Legend was born at just 34 weeks, weighing 4 lbs and 15 oz, our lives changed in an instant. He was so fragile, so vulnerable and within minutes of delivery, he was whisked away to the NICU. I remember feeling helpless, scared, and heartbroken not being able to hold him the way I had imagined.
Those 10 days in the NICU were filled with emotional highs and lows. Every beep of a monitor, every update from a nurse, every moment spent watching him was a mixture of fear and hope. But day by day, our little warrior grew stronger. And with each tiny breath he took, my love for him deepened in ways I never thought possible.
We were surrounded by the most incredible NICU nurses—gentle hands and strong hearts who treated Legend like he was their own. Their kindness gave us strength, and their care gave us hope.
But we didn’t walk through that storm alone. Our friends and family was right there with us, lifting us up when we felt like we were sinking. Whether it was a warm meal, a late-night phone call, a quiet hug, or simply sitting with us in silence—they showed up, again and again. In the midst of fear and exhaustion, their love grounded us. We will never forget how much that meant.
Today, that same little 4-pound fighter has grown into a thriving 16-month-old who weighs 23 pounds, is in school, learning, exploring, and full of life. Watching him grow reminds me every day how precious and powerful a healthy start can be.
