Jordyn's Jewels

Our team was formed to honor our baby, Jordyn Lyn, who was with us for much too short of time. Jordyn was expected to arrive in September of 2000. Between my 18 week appointment and my 22 week appointment, my pregnancy went from being normal to anything but normal. I had grown more than I should have & was sent to have an ultrasound to see if I was having twins. Scared about how in the world I was going to handle twins, I was certainly not prepared for what we found out. Our tiny baby had a very large tumor at the base of her spine. We were scheduled for the middle of the following week for a more detailed ultrasound in Madison, WI. We never made it to that appointment because I went into labor prior to that date. Our tiny angel, was born May 30, 2000. The tumor was larger than the size of her head, but than that she was perfect. Sadly, she was too small and fragile to face surgery that would be needed to remove the tumor and she was only with us here for about 15 minutes. Those minutes were spent in our arms and we cherish that brief time with her. The following year, we began walking for the March of Dimes in Jordyn's memory with our team Jordyn's Jewels. She was here only a few precious moments, but has touched many lives. In 2007, we lost another special baby Dominic Carl. His family continues to walk in his memory with the Jordyn's Jewels team. The family of Michael Averkamp have joined us in his memory as well. We walk in memory of our special angel babies & in honor of all of the healthy babies we have in our lives. We walk so more parents can bring their babies home & fewer have to say goodbye way too soon!
