At the School District of Philadelphia, our vision is to prepare students to imagine and realize any future they desire. But for every student, preparation for that future starts at home – long before they enter one of our schools. Before a child can begin learning, dreaming, and building toward a future they must first arrive in this world healthy, and ideally thrive as babies.
This is where the mission of March of Dimes meets the vision of SDP.
March of Dimes leads the fight for the health of all moms and babies, striving to eliminate preventable maternal and infant health risks, end preterm birth, and close the health equity gap. Moms are a child’s first teacher. And March of Dimes has worked for generations – funding vital medical research, advocating for access to quality prenatal care, and supporting families through critical early health challenges – to support the health of mothers and babies, so that kids make it to kindergarten on a strong footing.
Every graduate who walks across a high school stage in Philadelphia is proof of what happens when early health and educational opportunity align. When we lovingly care for a baby, we are helping to safeguard their future. When we invest in maternal health, we give a family the foundation it needs to support a student through their educational journey.
In a city where zip codes should never define a child's destiny, both organizations share a fundamental commitment to equity. We cannot deliver on the promise of equal educational opportunity without first guaranteeing equal health for moms and babies. It’s why Health & Wellness is a pillar of the School District’s Parent and Family University initiative. And it’s why we are partnering with March of Dimes this fall.
When you donate to the March of Dimes, you aren't just supporting healthcare – you are investing in future SDP students. And you are investing in the world’s future scientists, artists, leaders, and thinkers. You are giving every child the healthy starting line they deserve so our public schools can help them reach the finish line.
Give today to March of Dimes. Protect moms and babies, so the School District of Philadelphia can help prepare them to imagine and realize any future they desire.
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
Thank you for your support!
