Our son, Nixon, was born on May 2, 2018 at 31 weeks due to complications from severe intrauterine growth restriction caused by placental insufficiency. Weighing just 1 lb 13 oz, he quickly earned the nickname “our little Captain America” because although he was tiny, he was incredibly strong and brave.
Nixon spent 83 days in the NICU fighting through many challenges before he suddenly passed away at 2 months and 22 days old. Although we never received clear answers for his complications, Nixon’s life and strength continue to inspire us every day.
During this difficult time, March of Dimes provided resources and support that helped us honor and remember Nixon in a meaningful way. In his memory, we created Team Nixon to help raise awareness for premature birth and infant loss.
Each year we walk in March for Babies to celebrate Nixon’s life and to help give other families hope for healthier pregnancies and stronger babies. Thank you for supporting Team Nixon.
