Important Update

Our March for Babies celebration is still on, but it looks a little different! We are rapidly preparing for a new, virtualized event that will be fun and engaging for everyone. This change in format aligns with the newly released CDC guidance for large events, to help ensure the safety and health of our participants. More details on our new format to come soon!

ABOUT MARCH FOR BABIES

We believe that every baby deserves the best possible start. Unfortunately, not all babies get one. We are changing that. From advocacy to education to research, we're working to level the playing field so that all moms and babies are healthy. Because when a society supports every family, the future is brighter for us all. And when communities work together, even the toughest problems can be solved.

Please contact Annabelle Croy at [email protected] for more information, questions and tips on how to start a team or general inquiries.

Hyatt and Brittany

On August 2009, we found out we were pregnant and could not have been more excited. The beginning of my pregnancy was normal and by November, I started to feel flutters and everything started to become real. In December, I started to have complex migraines and my first preterm labor visit to the hospital at 23 weeks gestation. Those visits became a regular thing throughout the week. I was also given my first injection to stop contractions. By Christmas I was put on full bed rest which seemed to help things get back to normal until 30 weeks gestation when my blood pressure began rising. At 34 weeks gestation, my water broke so we rushed to the hospital and 12 hours later our little tiny peanut was born, Hyatt Wesley, the sweetest 5-lb. boy I have ever laid eyes on. During our stay in the hospital, Hyatt received surfactant therapy and was diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux disease. He was fed through an IV for a few days and then graduated to a syringe. Like a little baby bird we fed him every 30 minutes as that was all his little belly could handle. He also spent three days under the lights for his jaundice. After seven nights and eight days in NICU, we were able to bring Hyatt home to start our new life as a family. Today, Hyatt is healthy, strong and an active 8-year old boy. He loves to play sports and hang out with his friends. He has not been on any daily medications for two years now. All of the care and advancements in prenatal care are thanks to March of Dimes. Encourage your friends and family to join your team. Being part of a team is a way to raise more funds. You can celebrate, honor or remember babies with others who care as much as you. We will forever be grateful to March of Dimes who helped give Hyatt the best possible start!
