Our March for Babies celebration is still on, but it looks a little different! We are rapidly preparing for a new, virtualized event that will be fun and engaging for everyone. This change in format aligns with the newly released CDC guidance for large events, to help ensure the safety and health of our participants. More details on our new format to come soon!

We're getting ready to walk in March for Babies! It promises to be a fun day out with people who share our passion for improving the health of babies. There'll be family teams, company teams and people walking with friends - it's a great feeling knowing we're all helping real families. 2017 Topeka Ambassador Family

After several years of trials and heartaches, Craig and Angela Roberts were excited to learn they were pregnant with a baby girl. The pregnancy was uneventful, until it wasn’t. At 30 weeks, what Angela thought was just tired and puffy eyes, was the first sign of preeclampsia. Angela was admitted to the hospital and placed on bed rest until their baby girl was born. Two weeks later, Adalyn Louise Roberts was born via C-section. She weighed just under 4 pounds. Her parents knew Adalyn would be going to the NICU, but just like her mom, Adalyn was sicker than anyone predicted. The next 7 hours were tortuous for the family. Mom was in bed, unable to join Dad and baby Adalyn in the NICU. Adalyn had to be placed on a breathing machine to help her underdeveloped lungs. Adalyn spent 7 long weeks in the NICU learning how to breathe on her own and to eat safely. During that time, she received Surfactant, a drug developed through research funded by the March of Dimes which helps babies’ underdeveloped lungs. Adalyn eventually made it home, just in time for Thanksgiving! The Roberts family is forever grateful to the amazing NICU team and to the March of Dimes, who they credit with helping to save their miracle baby. “Addy Lou” will turn 2 this fall and is a healthy, happy, sassy little girl!
