Our March for Babies celebration is still on, but it looks a little different! We are rapidly preparing for a new, virtualized event that will be fun and engaging for everyone. This change in format aligns with the newly released CDC guidance for large events, to help ensure the safety and health of our participants. More details on our new format to come soon!

The Brandl Family

Ashley & Ben Brandl welcomed their son, Zane, to the world on July 10, 2016. During Ashley’s pregnancy, she began having a series of complications. She and her husband, Ben, worked with their doctors and tried everything they could to delay labor as long as possible, but Zane arrived approximately three months prematurely. He was a micro-preemie, weighing just 1 pound, 12 ounces at birth. Zane spent months in the hospital, the first 12 weeks of his life was in the NICU. He had 2 brain bleeds, and was diagnosed with chronic lung disease. When we first saw him, we were in awe of how tiny he was, that he made it, and how he fought to live from day one. After Zane came home, we found out that he was born because I had a terrible infection, but that if he did not come early, he would have died in utero, because the cord was wrapped around his neck four times. Zane is our miracle and he is here for a reason and we will make sure that part of his reason, is to spread his message to other families who may be going through this. We found out that part of Zane’s brain had died due to his brain bleeds. Nonetheless, he is now walking full time and we couldn’t be more proud. Today Zane is thriving, and our family is stronger from our NICU journey. Thank you for joining our family and countless others at March for Babies this year. Your support funds the research and programs that will help give all babies the best possible start.
