We first got involved with the March of Dimes eight and a half years ago. Emilyn and Hailey had just been born prematurely at 20 weeks and 5 days. I had gone into labor on November 29, 2009. My doctor told me that there was nothing that she could do for me except change my position so my feet were above my head, give me fluids and pray. That only worked for a very short time, and Emilyn and Hailey were born very early the following morning. Emilyn survived after birth for an hour and one minute, a miracle considering she was born at only 13 ounces and so very early. Hailey was born shortly after Emilyn passed and she survived for an hour and fifty nine minutes. We only ever saw one small movement out of each of our sweet girls. After losing them I felt so very alone, and was searching for a place of understanding and I found that with the March of Dimes. I was suddenly surrounded by women who understood what it is like when the outcome of pregnancy is not what you ever dreamed or planned for. They carried me through those early days and have become some of my very best friends. Please join me in walking and helping to fundraise to ensure that no family follows in our footsteps. The funds we raise enable March of Dimes to support research, lead programs and provide education and advocacy that truly makes a difference to families in our community and across the country. If you believe, like I do, that every baby deserves the best possible start, please march with me or make a donation to support this community effort. Together we can fight for the health of all moms and babies.
