Why I walk

This is our 8th year walking in the March for Babies! Nicholas was born at just 24 weeks- 16 weeks early. He spent 163 days in the NICU. During that time he was given artificial surfactant to help develop his lungs. If it wasn't for the March of Dimes artificial surfactant wouldn't be available and he might not be here today. Nicholas has really been affected by his prematurity. He is severely developmentally delayed but he will get there in time. Nick can now sit unsupported, he can walk with assistance of a gait trainer or holding someone's hands, and he can ride an adaptive bike! Nick loves trucks, his doggies, being outside, and his new favorite thing is to take a shower like a big boy! He is a strong little boy and thanks to the March of Dimes he is alive. Every day, thousands of babies are born too soon, too small and often very sick. I'm walking in March for Babies because I want to do something about this. And I need your help.
