This is my 11th year participating with March for Babies! I did not fully understand just how much the March of Dimes impacted my life until I became pregnant for the first time. It was a surprise shortly after my husband and I were married. We are ecstatic to be expecting our first little one! We even planned to tell our families on Christmas Day. But sadly, my first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage at 12 weeks when we did not hear a heartbeat at our 12 week ultrasound. We were absolutely heart broken, and did not expect the devastating outcome we experienced.
I learned that the March of Dimes is actively researching reasons why miscarriages occur, because often times, there's no explanation. Between 10-20% of pregnancies end in miscarriage, many of which happen to healthy moms like myself. That is far too many losses. March of Dimes is truly seeking answers, and researching WHY such tragic events such as miscarriage and infant loss occur.
Thankfully, after learning just how important my prenatal vitamins and folic acid are, I was able to give birth to TWO full-term healthy children. Grayson Thomas was born at 41 weeks at 8lb 6 oz, and our daughter Peyton was born at 40 weeks, weighing 7lbs 14 oz. My husband and I are so very grateful for the research and education that the March of Dimes provides. If it weren't for this amazing organization, we may not have been blessed with the two beautiful, healthy children we have today. Thank you for your support in my March for Babies campaign!
For the health of all moms and babies,
With preterm birth rates continuing to rise, the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth, especially for women and babies of color.
At March for Babies: A Mother of a Movement™ you're lifting up communities, creating connections and taking action to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.
Together, we’re marching to raise funds and awareness to transform the health of all families!
