I walk for...

I walk for my sons, Sebastian and Sam. Sebastian was born at 34 weeks and 1 day back in 2011. Sam was born at 26 weeks and 3 days back in 2012. We are a few years out of our preemie journeys but the cause still means a lot of us. Sebastian is 4 now and in preschool. He is dealing with sensory processing issues and a language delay. Is it due to his early birth? I am not sure but the early birth didn't help him that is something I know. Sam is 3 and just started preschool. He is a center based preschool due to his global delays. He has a long list of medical issues. Some maybe still due to his arrival 14 weeks ahead of time but some not.

Both kids get therapy weekly. Between the two of them, it is 5 therapies a week. We will now be adding behavioral therapy too.

The crazy roller coaster ride doesn't end necessarily after you leave the NICU or after the child reaches 2 years adjusted age. Each preemie's story is so different and has a lasting impact on the family.

I walk for them and hope that one day no parents need to go through having a preemie.

Your gift matters

Funds raised in March for Babies support research and programs that help moms have full-term pregnancies and babies begin healthy lives. And they will be used to bring comfort and information to families with a baby in newborn intensive care.

Thank you for walking!
