February 13, 2006, my first born baby made me a mommy. Lee Kenneth Partiss III, was born still at 38 weeks weighing 7.5 lbs. Delivering a stillborn baby was devastating. The March of Dimes research supports finding answers so that not one more family has to face what Lee and I did. I participate in the March of Dimes "March For Babies" every year in memory of every baby that has been lost, for the devastated families that they leave behind, and in memory of Kenny. The funds we raise in WalkAmerica support research that saves babies' lives.. Together we can help the March of Dimes fight prematurity so more babies can get the strongest start possible. I have come so far and I am honored to be able to give back and celebrate in my sons memory. While I miss Kenny everyday, I find strength from the memories we have created for him and the ways in which we continue to honor him. Whether it has been through the support we provide to the March of Dimes, or providing support to families who have experienced miscarriage or stillbirth through Share Atlanta under the guidance of Marcia McGinnis.
The most important way we have honored Kenny's life has been through our love for our rainbow twin babies, Madi & Nicky. We are thankful for each and every moment we spend with them. One of the many reasons they are here today is thanks to the experience and education of our doctors. MODs helps provide our doctors with the resources they need to help our babies.
For the past 13 years, I have walked in honor of Kenny with the March of Dimes, March for Babies. Kenny's siblings, grammies, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends CELEBRATE him and the good that comes from supporting the March of Dimes. Through everyone's overwhelming support, I have been a "Top Walker," every year. This year I hope to be a "Top Walker" again. Please honor Kenny, and donate so other babies may live. If you want to donate to help me reach my goal, I would be so thankful! Making a secure donation is easy: just click the 'donate now' button on this page. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me give babies a healthy start!
Two babies die every hour in the U.S. And about every 12 hours a woman dies as a result of complications from pregnancy.
It's not fine. That's why we March for Babies.
We march to end maternal death. We march for babies born too soon. We march for babies we have lost. We march for moms-to-be. And we march for health equity.
Join the fight for healthy moms and strong babies, and make a difference for families everywhere!
