Rakesh was born at only 25 weeks gestation in June 2013. He spent 94 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit before coming home. While in the NICU, he benefited from many of the advances which came from research funded by March of Dimes.
Devan was born at 25 weeks gestation and spent two weeks fighting for life in the NICU. While there, he benefited from many advances that came from research funded through the March of Dimes. After two weeks, he succumbed to complications related to premature birth and passed away.
Four years later, his little brother Kiran was born at 22 weeks. Kiran shared the same fighting spirit, but after 3 days he also succumbed to complications related to premature birth.
We walk to raise money to help to learn how to prevent premature birth, and to further advance the care of premature babies such as Rakesh, Devan, and Kiran.
Right now, babies need all the help they can get. Premature birth affects about 450,000 babies here in the United States. We’re walking in March for Babies to get the message out about this terrible problem and you can help. Please make a secure donation to help us reach our goal. Together we can help the March of Dimes fight prematurity so more babies can get the strongest start possible.
With preterm birth rates continuing to rise, the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth, especially for women and babies of color.
At March for Babies™ you're lifting up communities, creating connections and taking action to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.
Together, we’re marching to raise funds and awareness to transform the health of all families!
