Emmet and Finn: One in Our Hearts, One in Our Arms Supports March for Babies

Hi All,

The March for Babies will be held on May 11th and we will walk to bring awareness to preterm birth, pregnancy & infant loss, maternal health and much more. Health care is a right, not a privilege, and we need to do better.

If you are on our page, you likely know our story.  If not, we are open books and always willing to talk about how preterm birth has impacted our life:

  • On July 23, 2016, Emmet and Finn were born at 25 weeks 2 days due to complications from Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome.
  • Emmet lived for 13.5 hours in the NICU at BI and passed away surrounded by his Mom & Dad, Finn and the incredible staff who are some of the most amazing people we have ever met.
  • Finn went on to spend 122 days in the NICU at BI and when they finally gave him his eviction notice on November 22, 2016 and we were so happy to bring him home.
  • This wasn't our first time in a NICU. Prior to this, on August 13, 2014 Dermot was born at 34 weeks 6 days due to complications from a placenta previa and spent 10 days in the NICU at NWH.
  • And Finn & Emmet's stay wasn't our last time in a NICU either! Grady was born at 37 weeks 2 days (we actually had made it to our planned c-section date for once) and then our big guy needed some extra assitance breathing as he had swallowed some fluid on his way out. He spent 2 days in the NICU but then was able to leave the hospital with mom... first time ever being able to take one of our babies home with us at the same time that mom was being discharged. Our fourth boy and the feeling was surreal when we walked out those doors!

We are walking to bring awareness to premature birth, TTTS and to support families like ours... and you can help! Please consider making a secure donation to help us reach our goal. We walk to honor Emmet, remember Finn's 4 month NICU battle, acknowledge the struggles of "late term preemies" like Dermot, the issues that some full term babies like Grady face as well and to hopefully give more babies a stronger start in life by supporting the research and efforts of the March of Dimes.  We also acknowledge all of those families facing infertility like we did.

All our love,
Sha, Kev, Dermot, Finn, Grady and our angel Emmet

WE NEED TO UNITE, CONNECT AND FIGHT FOR FAMILIES

With preterm birth rates continuing to rise, the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth, especially for women and babies of color.

At March for Babies you're lifting up communities, creating connections and taking action to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.

Together, we’re marching to raise funds and awareness to transform the health of all families!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
