The City of Chicago has been a strong supporter of the March of Dimes for many years. We would like to thank all the departments that participated in the March of Dimes annual walk, March for Babies, and for your ongoing and relentless efforts. The City of Chicago raised more than $11,000 last year to help fund programs and research that allow new generations of children in Chicago to start life healthy. As a part of Healthy Chicago, one of the city′s priorities′ is to improve the health and well-being of mothers and infants. The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit agency for pregnancy and infant health. We are excited to be partnering with them on preconception and interconceptional health programs, reducing the disparities among our community′s birth outcomes by educating high-risk women and initiatives to provide adequate health care access. In Chicago, 1 in 8 babies are born too soon, some very ill and some who never see their first birthday. We all know more than a few moms and dads within our organization who have been affected by the March of Dimes mission. These are parents whose children were born premature, with a low birth weight, with a birth defect or passed away too soon. Let us support these families and all of Chicago babies by participating in the March of Dimes March for Babies again this year! Together we can transform the health of our city; a healthier Chicago starts today!
