This change in format aligns with the newly released CDC guidance for large events, to help ensure the safety and health of our participants. More details on our new format to come soon!

Meet Daxton Scoggins

Daxton was born on October 19, 2012, 14 weeks too soon and weighing just 2 pounds, 4 ounces. He was not breathing and had no heartbeat, so the doctors at Hilton Head Hospital intubated him immediately, then flew him to MUSC in Charleston. Dax spent almost 6 months in the NICU before he was able to come back home to Hilton Head Island. As a result of his premature birth, his vocal chords are paralyzed, and he had a trach in his neck for the first two years of his life. Dax’s parents, Charles and Terra, understand the significant role March of Dimes funded research played in helping save their son’s life.
